Mia has over 23 years of legal experience serving the interests of her clients in the civil and criminal courtrooms of DuPage County. She has built valuable professional relationships with colleagues, adversaries, courthouse personnel, and members of law enforcement that together with her passion for justice, well-prepare her to serve on the judiciary. She has the essential knowledge and background in a wide variety of legal matters.

Sonni Choi Williams
Sonni Choi Williams is a candidate for 3rd District Appellate Judge, which covers Bureau, DuPage, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, LaSalle, and Will Counties in Illinois. Sonni is a highly respected attorney in Illinois, and she was recently elected the 3rd Vice President for the Illinois State Bar Association. She has dedicated 23 years of her legal career working as a public servant. She has served the City of Lockport as its City Attorney since 2017, and prior to that, she served the City of Peoria for nearly 18 years at all levels of legal capacity.

Bridget Duignan
Bridget Duignan has been an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, serving in many capacities since 2008. She was first elected to the Assembly in 2008 and served two terms. She went on to serve in the Board of Governors, first in the Under 37 Seat, then for an additional two terms, during which time she was elected and served both as Treasurer and Secretary. She currently serves as Chair of the Tort Section Council and as Secretary of the Illinois Lawyers’ Political Action Committee. She is an active member of the Standing Committee on Investments, the Standing Committee on Legislation and the Standing Committee for Member Services. She is proud to have had the opportunity to represent the ISBA twice at the Second District New Admittees Ceremonies, speaking to an auditorium of newly admitted attorneys about the benefits of being a part of this great organization.

Jill Otte
Jill Otte's career ambition has long been to be a judge. Serving DuPage County as a Circuit Court Judge would allow Jill to continue her 25 year legal career as a public servant. Jill is passionate about ensuring that all citizens are treated respectfully and professionally in the courtroom.

Shawn Kasserman
Shawn Kasserman believes that by working together, the members of the ISBA can overcome the challenges facing those in the legal profession. By emphasizing respect and professionalism, we can demonstrate our integrity and our willingness to give back to our communities. We can also bring the legal community together, building relationships through both technological resources and face-to-face contact. The life-long friendships and partnerships can be leveraged to not only enhance the practice of law, but to improve the public good.

Margaret (Peggy) O'Connell
Margaret Peggy O’Connell is the Democratic candidate for Circuit Court Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit in DuPage County, IL. She has served as an Assistant State's Attorney and as a private family law, divorce, and criminal defense attorney. She has taught at the John Marshall Law School, and she has received the Inspirational Woman Award from the DuPage County Association of Women Lawyers. She is the current Vice President of the DuPage County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
